A new competition is on the horizon in Nelson.

Be crowned NZ Young Piper of the Year for 2018 and receive $1,000 CASH FOR 1ST PLACE.

This exciting one day event will consist of two core sections: a standard style competition during the day for all ages and graded events including a full list of Novice, D, C, and B Grade Piobaireachd and light music followed by a concert style event in the evening for those entered in the Under 21 MSR & Hornpipe Jig events.

The “NZ Young Piper of the Year” award itself will be judged across a Piobaireachd (submit 2) during the day, then in the evening an MSR (Submit 2).
Directly following the performance of their MSR, competitors will play their Hornpipe & Jig (submit 2), in an effort to create an entertaining concert format which will be live streamed and heavily attended.
Please note most points for the “NZ Young Piper of the Year” award and the $1,000 prize will be taken from the Piobaireachd & MSR events only (Events 13 & 14).
