About Wellington Centre:
The Wellington Centre covers the lower North Island from Wanganui in the west to Dannevirke in the east, across to the Wairarapa and down to and including Wellington. We are a large geographical centre with societies conducting Highland Dancing and Piping competitions.
In January, the Turakina Highland Games starts the year with piping and dancing events. Throughout the year dancing competitions are held in Feilding, Levin, Lower Hutt, Manakau, Palmerston North, Rongotea, Upper Hutt and Waikanae with a piping competition hosted at Upper Hutt. The year concludes with Square Day in Palmerston North.
